Obituary of Donald “Donnie” G. Comber

Donald “Donnie” G. Comber, age 82, born in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia, Canada, passed on Friday, September 19, 2014 in Melbourne, FL. He graduated high school from Horton Academy and continually attended yearly reunions (63rd this year) with great friends. Later in life, he received an Associate’s Degree from Brevard Community College. He and his wife, Jill, started the first youth group, with Rev. Paul Cumming at the United Church in Bridgewater. He was also a member of the United Methodist Church of Satellite Beach FL, for more than 20 years. His family includes his wife of 56 years, Jill L. Comber (MacDonald) of Melbourne, FL; son, Michael Comber of Titusville, FL; son, Scott Comber and his partner, Darren Dick of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; daughter, Cathy Comber, West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; seven grandchildren, Ryan, David and Katherine of Titusville, FL, Ella and Mac of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Griffin and Theo of West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; and two great grandchildren, Brayden of Titusville and Nicholas who preceded him in death. Donnie was a member of the Masonic Lodge #83 in Bangor, Maine and the Scottish Rite of Freemasonary, S.J. In Anchorage, Alaska. He lived in various places in the world but called Green Bay, NS his true home. He spent many summers there with his family and friends, played a mean crib game, entertained people for hours with his endless arsenal of jokes and could be seen running around Green Bay with his grandchildren on his gold golf cart. Arrangements by Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, Melbourne, (321) 724-2222. A memorial service will be held at the United Church of Canada, Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Burial will be in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any cancer society of your choice.
