Obituary of Juanita Herenia Silvestre

Juanita was born in Holguin, Oriente in Cuba to Manuel and Clara Perez y Palacios on March 8, 1923. She arried her childhood sweetheart, Hector Silvestre, on May 30, 1946, then left Cuba with him to make her home in the United States, where she subsequently became a U.S. citizen. Juanita was an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, a successful homemaker, and a volunteer at Our Lady of Lourdes School. She was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary, Father Gabriel Council. She enjoyed playing the piano, music, dancing, playing card games, knitting and crocheting, and most of all, spending time with her family. Juanita always made everyone feel welcome in her home. Juanita is survived by her daughters Vivian (Jorge) Lara of Palm Bay, FL, Cynthia (Bruce Myhre) Silvestre of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren Patricia (Jay) Leisten, Katherine (John) Harrison ; Robert (Joyce) Lara; great grandchildren: Colton Williams, Levi Lara and Ann Lara. She is predeceased by her parents Manuel and Clara Perez y Palacios; husband Hector Silvestre; son Hector R. Silvestre and sister Clara F. Olson. A funeral mass will be January 26, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 1626 Oak Street, Melbourne. Interment will follow at Florida Memorial Gardens, Rockledge.
