Obituary of Mathieu Vernet

Mathieu Vernet, of Palm Bay FL, age 67, passed on Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at William Childs Hospice House in Palm Bay, following a long battle with cancer. Born in Gros-Morme, Haiti he moved to the Bahamas at age 21, where he met his wife. He lived there until 1980 when he moved to Miami, working for the Sahara Beach Club for 25 years. In 2005 he moved to Palm Bay and worked for Cypress Cove in Melbourne until 2011 when his illness forced his retirement. Known as GÇ£Uncle MathieuGÇ¥ to his extended family, he adored his wife, Beverly accepting her family as his and letting her know everyday how much she was loved and appreciated. Mathieu was a kind, loving, confident and respectful soul, always making those around him comfortable. He could fix just about anything, using his talents at home and willingly sharing them with friends and strangers. He believed that no job was done until it was done right. His family includes his wife, Beverly Vernet of Palm Bay; sons, Tarano Vernet and Gavin Vernet; mother, Jeanne Vernet; brothers, Kernizan Vernet and Theaneau Vernet; five grandchildren; his nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his son, Bryan Vernet; his father, Phedre Vernet; and his brother, Gabriel Vernet. Viewing on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 1pm to 3pm and 5pm to 7pm at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, Melbourne and on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 10am to 11am at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Palm Bay. His funeral mass will begin at 11am at the church followed by entombment at Fountainhead Memorial Park.
