Obituary of Richard “Rick” Allen Cannon

Cannon, Richard Allen, Jr., GÇ£RickGÇ¥, age 69, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2015 in Rockledge, Florida. Born September 1, 1945 in Dallas, Texas, Rick is survived by his daughter, Candace Whitman; his grandchildren, Chase, Sasha and Gia Whitman; his long time companion, Carolyn Terrell; his sisters, Lynda Hoskins and Phyllis Mitchell; along with many nieces and nephews. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Daisy Cannon; and his brother, Don Cannon. Rick grew up in Brea, California, where he graduated from Brea-Olinda High School and attended Fullerton College. Rick was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served with distinction for six years as an Air Defense Radar Repairman. After working many years around the world, Rick re-located back to the United States, and retired after a thirty six year career as a Communications Engineer with ITT. In his retirement, he had a full and active life. He loved spending time with family and friends. He was an excellent cook, threw amazing parties, and had a zest for life. He had fun planning what he would bring to the next party. In his retirement, Rick was passionate about woodworking, flying, competitive shooting, fly fishing, boating and travel. Rick was a wonderful and generous man, who will be greatly missed by his family and friends. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on April 4, 2015 in Rockledge, Florida. Arrangements will be posted here at a later date.
