Obituary of James Henry

James (Jim) Henry was born on July 6, 1940 in New Amsterdam, Guyana, to the late Viola Henry. He was the second of three boys; The late Patrick Henry, his older brother and Stanley Henry, his younger brother. Jim’s love of the sea steered him to employment with Guyana Seafoods Corporation where he spent a number of years before proudly joining the Army of the Guyana Defense Force. On December 26, 1971 James married his wife of 47 years, Annette Henry, and from this union came two children, Deborah and Mark. He was also a step-father to Andre Henry. In 1985 James and his family migrated to the United States and took up residence in Queens, New York. He worked several jobs including a Mechanic, Superintendent, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Tech, and Airplane Maintenance Tech during his time in New York. In 2005 James and his wife relocated to Melbourne, Florida to retire and quickly decided that he had more to give and gained employment at Eau Gallie High School on the maintenance staff. He retired again in 2014. James was a devoted family man, husband, father and friend to all who knew him and was affectionately called Uncle Jim. He was a very loving and caring soul, always ready to help. He showed his love to his family and friends by cooking for them; he loved to cook and take a little “finey”.
