Obituary of Patricia Pagoria

Patricia Pagoria (Schweizer), age 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22 surrounded by her loving family. Born June 14, 1928 in Chicago, IL, Patricia was the oldest of ten children. Due to the size of Robert and Lou Schweizer’s family (Pat’s mother and father), the family moved often and traveled throughout the United States, moving as far away as Arizona, before settling in Kankakee, IL in the 1950s. Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Frank, mother and father Lou and Robert, her daughter Cathy, and her sisters Joyce and Barbara and brother Alfred. She is survived by her sons Mike and Phil, grandsons Chris and Aaron, her daughters-in-law Kathy and Jackie, brothers Robert, Richard, and Randy, sisters Nancy, April, and Marcia and many nephews and nieces. Patricia met the love of her life, Frank, and they married November 9, 1954 in San Rocco Church in Chicago Heights, IL. Patricia and Frank were the owners of a small store in Steger, IL for over 30 years. They had three children, Michael, Philip, and Cathy. Upon retirement Pat and Frank moved to Palm Bay to help raise their grandsons, Chris and Aaron, and escape the cold of the Midwest winters. What Patricia enjoyed most was sharing time with her family and friends. At her home in Steger IL the rather large Schweizer clan gathered for holidays and special occasions to both share and create memories. They were always an enjoyable and generally noisy gathering. The quintessential mother, who helped raise her siblings and then raised a family of her own, she was very proud of her daughter, sons and grandsons and enjoyed a tight family relationship with her many sisters and brothers and their families. In recent years, Patricia especially enjoyed her annual visits to Kankakee, Illinois for family reunions and gathering with friends. She enjoyed reminiscing with her family and friends and was especially grateful to her many brothers and sisters who arranged the family reunions and made then so much fun. In the latter part of her life, Patricia lived at Southland Suites where she had many friends, who often commented on her easygoing way and quick smile. She enjoyed the many lunches and dinners she shared with her friends and the staff. Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service at St. Joseph Catholic Church on Tuesday, October 6th at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that friends and family send donations to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the American Cancer Society in the name of her daughter, Cathy. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting that friends and family send donations to St. Joseph Catholic Church or to the American Cancer Society in the name of her daughter, Cathy.
