Obituary of Rickie E. Griffis

Rickie E. Griffis, 68, of Merritt Island, Florida passed away Tuesday, March 13, after a hard fought and courageous battle with cancer. Rickie was a life-long resident of Merritt Island. He was born in Angel City and with an amazing amount of hard work and perseverance, he built a legacy that his family and loved ones will always be proud of. The local seafood industry has always been a part of his life and many people remember him fondly from Canaveral Seafoods, Port Canaveral, Capt’n Ed’s Seafood Restaurants and most recently the infamous Ms. Apples Crab Shack in Merritt Island. Although he could certainly be stubborn at times, that trait was overpowered by his gentle and generous heart and a warm smile that touched so many people who knew him. He will sorely be missed. He is survived by his soul mate, Apple Keenan; his children, Holly (Alan) Barrett; Richard (Christy) Griffis; their mother Peggy Griffis; his father, Ed (Marie) Griffis; grandson Jake Barrett; his sister, Susan Partin; and three half siblings, Sissy Griffis, Charlie Griffis and Melissa Kinzel. Visitation will take place Monday, March 19th at 5:00pm at Ammen Family Cremation and Funeral Care, 1001 Hickory Street, Melbourne, Fl. 32901. The service will follow immediately.
