Charles Michael Swartwout, Sr. age 76, of Cape Canaveral, Florida passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Rockledge Regional Medical Center.

Charles was born on July 27, 1942 in New York, New York to Valentine and Mary (Hylas) Swartwout.

Charles grew up in Congers, New York. He joined the United States Navy in 1960 and proudly served on the USS Patrick Henry (SSBN 599).

He spent most of his adult life in the San Francisco Bay area before moving and settling in Cape Canaveral, FL.

He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Sheridan L. Meyer.  

He is also survived by his son, Charles Swartwout, Jr.; and daughters, Christine and Stephanie Swartwout.

In lieu of a memorial service, his cremated remains will be sent to the Navy for burial at sea.

In lieu of flowers, please take a moment and remember your friendship with Charlie.  Forever in our hearts…

This is a beautiful tribute to a very special man. Although I didn’t know Charlie well, I immediately took to him…his kindness came out in his every move and every word. I am grateful for the time we spent together with Sheri. He will stay in our hearts…always.

While our deepest Sympathy goes to Sheri…. we want to say that Charlie was a good man , he was of amazingly great /calming assistance to me during the loss of my Husband ( Thank you Charlie ) …
Charlie was very talented with his Camera …he always took great Photos of  nature and animals and created ‘super’ books with it…He was a smart man in many ways … May he RIP ….  He will be lovingly remembered by many !

Charlie’s Dad took Charlie- Billy”Bucky” Prihoda and me down to Whitehall Street in NYC to enlist in the Navy together. Smooth sails Charlie and bless his family.

Memories of many days on the Hudson in Charlie’s boat, Water skiing behind Louie Olori’s speedboat, trips to New London, CT to drop Charlie off for his trip to Holy Loch, Scotland and duty aboard the USS Patrick Henry. Great guy nothing good memories..
